What’s the difference between a hero and a coward?
Courage is often misunderstood. Courage is not about leaping without thinking, it is not about being a rebel without a cause and it is not about not feeling fear.
Courage is taking the ‘hard right’ instead of the ‘easy left’ each time, in the face of fear. A hero chooses to do this not once, not twice, but every time she faces a scary decision.
In the words of Cus D’Amato, Mike Tyson’s legendary trainer: “What’s the difference between a hero and a coward? There ain’t no difference. Inside they’re both exactly alike. Both scared of dying or getting hurt. But it’s what the hero does that makes him a hero. What the other guy doesn’t do, makes him a coward.”
