Metrics usually determine how we behave. Incentives drive decisions, decisions drive action. So how will you measure your life in the long run?
You can measure success by the amount of wealth you create, or how famous you are, or what ‘legacy’ you leave behind, or how happy you are. There could be many other parameters.
👉 The one that stuck with me is “the individuals you impact positively around you in every situation or context you find yourself in”. (Please read Prof Clay Christensen’s books or watch his videos to learn more about this. I will leave a few links in the comments.)
It shifts the locus from internal to external impact, it helps build a daily habit (you can make an impact in every context), and happiness / joy / wealth / legacy etc will all be definite side-effects of a service mentality.
